Summer, Fall and updates

 It's August already!  This Summer is going by very fast.  West Virginia is currently in a drought.  I suppose our yard gets enough dew in the morning because so far our grass is still green.  It's been so hot outside that you could almost bake a cake in the garage.  I'm not even sure if we had a swimming pool if we would even go in it because of the humidity.  As I'm writing this it is 10 a.m.  It is already 72 outside with 91% humidity.  

I'm ready for Fall!  I don't think we will have a beautiful fall this year because many of the trees in my area have already turned red.  Some have already fallen off.  I was really hoping for a beautiful Fall this year.  I have been wanting to go back to Canaan Valley in the Fall to see all of the beautiful colors.  If we go it will just be a day trip.  I miss going there.  It's been several years since we have vacationed there.  Mostly because the prices got way too high on the vacation homes we were staying at.  It is cheaper to stay in a house at the beach....  We went to the Outer Banks this year for our vacation.  Stayed in a beautiful 3 bedroom home next to the sound.  We had a wonderful time.  

A lot has happened since I last posted!  I'm officially a Granny, Gramma, Grammy, Gran.  My beautiful young lady and handsome son in love welcomed a handsome blue eyed baby boy with lots of hair a few months ago.  I am absolutely in love with him!  I would see him every day if I could!  

My young man is now in college!  He completed his first year and is getting ready to start his second soon.  He made the National Honor Society with his grades.

Summer is Winding Down

 It won't be long before the butterflies will be heading south or where ever it is that they go.  I have enjoyed seeing them around my house this year.  I don't know what this flowering vine is that is growing around this Sycamore Tree.  The butterflies were enjoying a feast of sweet nectar from it.  I am not ready for summer to end.  I am ready for the high temps and humidity to end though.  We are currently in a dry spell with hot days and cool nights.  The day is getting shorter and the night is getting longer.  I prefer the long days with the sun being out. 

Fall is right around the corner.  The leaves are turning their fall colors.  It's been really dry the past few weeks so I'm worried that the leaves will not be at a beautiful peak color this year.  Getting to see all four seasons change is one of the many benefits of living in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia.

Water Park

Since school has been out I've been a little missing in action lately. There has been so much to do this past month that I can't believe today is the 25th of June already! Today I took my Little Man to a new spray park while his sister went on a trip to Kings Island with our church youth group. She can't have all the fun can she?

This new water park is the coolest water park around! The price is right too. It is FREE! You can't beat that!

There were a lot of kids there, but not too many that he didn't have a good time.

Next time I will be wearing my bathing suit and I'm going to get my feet wet!

It's a Dog's Life ~ Jazz

Jazz lives to go on a mule ride! If we are riding around in the yard you will always find Jazz riding in the front seat. I thought I would share a few pictures of Jazz I took today so everyone will know that Jazz has fully recovered from a spat with a raccoon a week ago. I'll be taking her one day this week to the vet to get the stitches removed from her eye. She no longer needs to wear the Cone of Shame! She is free! She is free at last!

Fall in the Summer?

This week I have noticed something strange. Something just isn't right. I couldn't believe what I have been seeing. Something is wrong with the trees. The leaves are already turning their bright Autumn colors and it is only July!

This isn't supposed to happen until early October! Summer hasn't even been here that long and now Fall is trying to sneak back into the scene of things. We haven't even made it to the pool yet! I believe this is happening because it hasn't rained in such a long time.

We went on a mule ride this evening and there were 3 trees already wearing their Autumn colors in just a short quarter of a mile. It's just not going to be the same around here is it?

Summer is Over!

It's official. Summer is over! School has started and my days of leisure are over..... Sigh...... Gasp! I don't know where the time has went???? I don't feel like we had a Summer break this year at all. Gee, we only went to the pool one time! I did mange to take the kids on a few outings, but still I feel as though we didn't do anything. Where did my Summer go?????

Summer Time ~ Hay Field

I thought I should show you our Hay Field in the Summer time. This picture was taken just after they had cut it and tossed it with some type of farm machinery. I took this picture from an upstairs room in our house. Isn't it just beautiful! I love it when they cut the hay and roll it into those big round bales of hay. They usually get about 6 or 7 of the big round bales in one cutting. They usually cut the hay at least twice a year. Some of our neighbors get 3 cuttings out of theirs. We let one of our neighbors cut and for the hay to feed their cattle. The kids love it when they cut the hay. That means there is a photo shoot in the works for that day.

I also wanted to mention that in the 13 years that I have lived here, the flood waters has only ever gotten half way up in that field 2 or 3 times. Our house sits at least a football field away from the creek. Plus when we built it we built our house up a little higher just in case.
