Josie is 2 years old!

This girly girl celebrated her 2nd birthday on February 15, 2022.  Look at how she sits up on top of the couch like she's a cat.  Josie's nickname is Kitty Kitty!

Some Fun in the Woods

Twenty some years ago we bought some land with an old house on it.  I can remember it like it was yesterday.  The previous owner had selectively cut logged a few of the older trees on the property.  There was a few logging roads on our land back then.  We used to ride through the woods in my husband's Bronco II.  I remember a few times when my Mom came over with my Granny and we would all load up in the Bronco and my husband drove us through the woods to show them our property.  They loved it!  Granny loved it most.  Mom was a little scared at how steep it was in some places, but she enjoyed spending time at my house.

A year and a half after we moved here we started building our dream home.  My husbands Bronco broke when he was pulling trees with it in our yard to clear the area to build our house so we weren't able to drive around on our property like we did before.  It was a few years after that before we bought something that we could ride back in the woods but by that time a lot of trees had fallen over or were growing on the road we had once drove on.

It was always my desire to have a tree house with picnic tables and just fun stuff to do in the woods.  It's finally starting to happen!  I couldn't be more excited!  Our Young Man is now 16 and big enough to help his Daddy clear the path so we can go back up there again.  He is having so much fun exploring in his backyard.  Because of this virus he is doing the virtual school.  I hate it that he isn't getting to spend time with friends at school, but all of his friends are staying home and doing virtual school as well.  He started showing interest in seeing what was back up in the woods of our property again so I told him to go and explore it.  He came back and was so excited telling me all about finding some big rocks.  He couldn't believe what he saw.  He could only go so far back because there were a lot of big trees that had fallen back in 2012 when we had a really big storm that came through West Virginia.

My Young Man started cleaning up the road and clearing the path so we could go back up there.  My husband has been helping by cutting the big trees that are down across the path with his chainsaw.  Today we made it further back to an area that I probably haven't been to since we bought the farm.  It's not really that far back, but it is up a really steep hill.  Once you get to the top it's completely flat.

Before my Mom went to Heaven my husband and son were trying to clean up one area not far from the house to build a tree house.  Things got in the way of them building it back then.  Today when my son seen this new area he decided this was the area that he wanted to build his tree house.

I'm excited to see what they will build.  Hopefully the weather will stay warm long enough for us to get things started and finished.  I'll put up pictures once we get it built.

Mr. & Mrs. Fox

When my husband and I were first married we lived in the DC area.  On the weekends we liked to drive around seeing the different sights.  There was one little down in Virginia that we especially loved to drive through.  I especially loved seeing this one house that had these statutes of Mr. & Mrs. Fox sitting on their front porch steps.  I knew that when we bought a house that I wanted to have my own Mr. & Mrs. Fox statues sitting on my front porch.  We lived in the DC area for around 4 years before moving back to West Virginia.  It was our 5th Anniversary when my husband said let's see if we can find a Mr. & Mrs. Fox statute for your present.  I went to a lawn statue place to see if they had them.  They didn't.  I was so disappointed.  My husband took me back and asked if we could have them special ordered.  Sure enough they were able to do that.  So we special ordered them.  The picture they had of them they were wearing pink and just looked strange.  I told them they were supposed to look like the Hunt Club type of theme.  They are a play on the people in the Hunt Club that rides the horses and they let a fox out that they chase down.  The fox chase is what it's called.  The foxes are supposed to be in disguise by wearing the same hunt clothes as the hunters.  I think it's cute and just love them.  I told them how to paint them and they turned out great.

Here's a picture of them with my young lady when she was around 2 years old.  I have them sitting on the corner stone that came from the old barn that was on our property.  The years went by and the weather beat them pretty hard.  The paint kept chipping away and they just looked pitiful.  The statue places that I bought them from is no longer in business.  I decided it was time to paint them myself.  I am very pleased with how they turned out.  I bought the outdoor paint at Hobby Lobby in the little bottles where you buy regular crafting paint.  I scraped off as much of the flaking paint as I could.  It took me a little longer to paint them than I thought it would because of the different angles and trying to get them as perfect as I could.  Once I got them painted the way I liked them my Young Man carried them to their corner stone bench for me.  They are very heavy.  He then spayed them with a sealer so they will look good for a long time.

Josie ~ 5 Months Old

She's growing so fast!  Josie just turned 5 months old.  She is so gorgeous!  She has a very loving personality.  In the morning when I get up she gets on my lap and lets me love on her until she's ready to get down and play.  She lets us know when she needs to potty.  She loves to play with her toys.  Josie is always on a treasure hunt.  When she gets to go in other rooms in the house that have closed doors she will find something that she thinks we don't want her to have and take off running with it.  She will look back to see if we seen her in hopes that we will chase her.  She will run around with it until she jumps in her big bed where she likes to hide things that she finds.  The other day I looked and she had a fork and a spoon hidden in her bed!  lol  She loves her boy and her daddy.  She can't wait for my husband to come home from work.  She has a night time routine where she does zoomies around the living room until my husband catches her.  He then puts her to bed.  She's a little bossy at times and loves to tell us what's going on.  She's very talkative.

3 1/2 months old

Josie has grown so much over the past few weeks.  Just today my Young Man mentioned that when we got her she wasn't as big as his shoe, but now she is carrying around his shoes.  Right now she is in the terrible 2's stage!  lol  Oh my!  Is she mouthy!  Sassy!  Bossy!  Sweet!  Loving!  but we love her so much.  She knows what she wants and she knows how to get us to give her what she wants.  Corgi's are just way too smart.  She sits on command.  The accidents in the house are of human error in my opinion.  When she wakes from a nap she has to go potty.  If she isn't taken outside right away then she will have an accident at the front door.  She knows she did wrong so hopefully once she gets a little older she will be able to hold it long enough for us to get our shoes on to take her out.

My Sweet Girl Josie

I thought I'd share a few pictures of Josie that I took the beginning of the month.  She's growing so fast.  She's 100% corgi!  I just love the way they lay all stretched out like this.  In the corgi world this is called a sploot!
There are a few other terms that are used in the corgi world to describe our corgi's.  In this picture you will see what is commonly referred to as a "Drummie"!  Do you see it?  Her back leg and thigh bone looks like a drumstick!
When corgi's are babies a lot of people refer to their little feat as "Toe Beans"!  lol  At this age their little toe beans are really soft because they haven't walked around outside a lot yet to harden them up.  Corgi's also have a lot of hair that grows on the bottom of their feet.  Some people trim the hair.  I have always left it as sort of a protection to their toe beans.  I think it's cute!
Some corgi's ears will be up by the time they are 8 weeks old, but some won't have their ears standing completely up for a few weeks after that.  Josie how has one ear up and one ear that is thinking about standing up.  It won't be long.  In this picture I had asked her where her boy was.  She pointed with that ear and said he went that way!  lol  Josie loves her boy and wants to be with him all the time.  We are having so much fun with this baby.

Granny's Things

Sometime in November my Aunt told me that my Uncle had moved out of my Granny's house to another place and asked if I wanted any of my Granny's things.  Of course I did!  Granny went to Heaven in 2012.  She was 89 years old.  I have a lot of great memories that I cherish of spending time with Granny throughout my life.

When I was going through Granny's house I seen this old ash tray and stand.  I remember it from my childhood.  I remember seeing it in her living room as well as on her front porch.  I just had to have it.  I don't smoke, but I figured I could find something to make it usable again.

This is what I came up with.  I put some dirt in it and some chickens and hens.  I love how it looks.  I'm debating on spraying the stand with a gold paint.  What do you think?  Should I leave it or paint it?  Granny would be happy that I have found a use for it.

Happy 12th Birthday to my Sweet Girl Jazz

It is hard for me to believe that my sweet girl is now 12 years old!  I actually had been telling everyone she was going to be 11 years old on her next birthday until I found her birth certificate.  Imagine my shock and Jazz' shock to find out that she was already 11 years old and turning 12!

Happy Birthday Sweet Cheeks!  Jazz actually turned 12 on August 4th.

First Day of School 2018

I hated to see My Young Man have to start school so early this year.  I sure miss having him hanging around with me this summer.  He sure has grown up on me.  Not only in age, but in height!  Around April I noticed he was shoulder to shoulder with me, but not as tall as me.  By August he is the same height as me!  If he keeps growing at the rate that he has been he will be taller than his dad.

Bathroom Remodel

During Christmas Vacation we decided it was time to start the remodel of our master bathroom.  We built our house around 19 years ago.  In that time we haven't re-painted the bathroom at all.  This is as close as a before picture as I am going to have because my husband started taking stuff out of there before I thought he was going to and therefore I didn't get a good before picture.  The vanity in the picture above was purchased at 84 Lumber when we were building our house.  I had stopped in to look at something for the house and seen they had a few vanities on clearance.  I paid $75 for that vanity.  They delivered it that day when they brought some more of the lumber or something for our house.

It didn't take my husband and young man very long to get everything out of the bathroom.

We have needed to replace the flooring in our bathroom for a good 9 years!  That is how long it has had a hole in the floor.  My young man when he was 4 put some tape on it to fix it for me!  lol  Somewhere I'm sure I have a picture of that!
Flooring has came a long way since we built our house.  It is much thicker and more durable than one would imagine.  Our old floor was paper thin.  This new floor is cushion thick feeling.  I know most people like the real tile floor.  I personally don't.  I've lived with it in other places.  I didn't like it at all.  I don't like standing on it.  I don't like cleaning it.  When we stay at a hotel I always put a towel down on the floor because I do not like to stand on it.  Yep, I'm that crazy!  But, I do like the look of it so I picked out something as close to looking real as you could, but without all of the work that one has to do to install real tile.  With this flooring all we had to do was cut it to fit and lay it down.  It did not need to be glued or anything.  Nice!  Quick!  Easy!
We also decided it was time to get a new toilet.  The old one was leaking around the bottom at times.  It also was starting to stain from the iron in our well water.  I also wanted to replace it because we had replaced the toilet in our half bathroom a few years ago and I liked the height of it better. Looking at that picture above makes the bathroom look really small.  I believe the actual measurement is 9x12.  We did paint the bathroom a light sand color.  I like it, but I am so used to everything being all white that I kind of miss the all white look we had before.  I can not stand the smell of paint so I'm not going to be re-painting it anytime soon.  I actually have gotten really sick from a sinus infection which I believe was because of smelling all of the different smells associated with remodeling the bathroom which is one of the reasons why we have been putting it off.
We also bought a new light.  I loved the light that the old one put out, but I was ready for a new look in there.  This light puts out enough light, but it's not as bright as the old light.

We are not finished with the complete remodel though.  We can not seem to find a new vanity that we like that is even near the quality of our old vanity.  We are still trying to decided on whether or not to replace it.  When we built the house we matched everything in our bathroom to go with that vanity.  The doors and trim are that same color oak.  The new modern look goes away from the real wood colors and you can mostly find gray, black or white.  We are going to replace the top.  We can't order that until we know for sure what we want to do about the vanity.  We did buy a new faucet, but that won't be installed until we get the new top.  Once I get it completely finished I'll share some more pictures then.  Everything has been put back together though.

All in all I am happy with the new look.

Driving Miss Jazz

My Little Man is now 12 years old.  I think that given his age and all I probably should start calling him my Young Man.  Here he is driving Jazz and me around in our hay field.  Jazz loves going for a ride.  She thinks she is special when she gets to go for a ride!

My Country Boy!

My favorite pictures I've taken recently of my Little Man.  It was spirit week at school.  The kids could dress up as either country or city.  He picked country.  So far he is really enjoying Middle School.

You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!

Flowers

In the spring my husband and son planted some more zinnias in the yard.  I just love them!  The butterflies love them also!  Every time I go by them they are covered with all different kinds of butterflies.  The best thing about them is the deer don't like to eat them which is why I can have this type of flower in my yard.  I would love to plant our hay field in these flowers.  I can imagine how beautiful that would be!

Fancy Jazz!

If you have been following my blog long enough then you know that Jazz loves to dress up!  Here she is wearing her frilly skirt with her backpack!
When she gets all dressed up she knows she is going to get to go for a car ride which she loves.  She was one happy corgi!
Jazz called shotgun!  She loves to ride in the front seat all by herself!
She is just too cute in her dress up clothes!  I had to take her to the vet to get her yearly shots.  She didn't care though, she loves going to the vet.
