Summer, Fall and updates

It's August already!  This Summer is going by very fast.  West Virginia is currently in a drought.  I suppose our yard gets enough dew in the morning because so far our grass is still green.  It's been so hot outside that you could almost bake a cake in the garage.  I'm not even sure if we had a swimming pool if we would even go in it because of the humidity.  As I'm writing this it is 10 a.m.  It is already 72 outside with 91% humidity.

I'm ready for Fall!  I don't think we will have a beautiful fall this year because many of the trees in my area have already turned red.  Some have already fallen off.  I was really hoping for a beautiful Fall this year.  I have been wanting to go back to Canaan Valley in the Fall to see all of the beautiful colors.  If we go it will just be a day trip.  I miss going there.  It's been several years since we have vacationed there.  Mostly because the prices got way too high on the vacation homes we were staying at.  It is cheaper to stay in a house at the beach....  We went to the Outer Banks this year for our vacation.  Stayed in a beautiful 3 bedroom home next to the sound.  We had a wonderful time.

A lot has happened since I last posted!  I'm officially a Granny, Gramma, Grammy, Gran.  My beautiful young lady and handsome son in love welcomed a handsome blue eyed baby boy with lots of hair a few months ago.  I am absolutely in love with him!  I would see him every day if I could!

My young man is now in college!  He completed his first year and is getting ready to start his second soon.  He made the National Honor Society with his grades.

First Day of School 2018

I hated to see My Young Man have to start school so early this year.  I sure miss having him hanging around with me this summer.  He sure has grown up on me.  Not only in age, but in height!  Around April I noticed he was shoulder to shoulder with me, but not as tall as me.  By August he is the same height as me!  If he keeps growing at the rate that he has been he will be taller than his dad.

My Little Man the Artist!

My Little Man won a 3rd place ribbon for his picture above at his school's classroom competition.  From there it was sent to the county level where he won Honorable Mention!  Last night they had the Art Fair where we could go and see all of the kids artwork that won from the different county schools.  Not every kid got a ribbon at the county level so it is a real honor to get the Honorable Mention that he received.  This isn't the first time that he has won at the school level and have his artwork judged at the county level.  Last year he won Honorable Mention too!

(I'm a little fed up with blogger, which is one of the reasons why I haven't been blogging.  I like to put up pictures, but blogger likes to turn them sideways.  I've finally figured out how to keep them from being sideways, but it is a long process and I forgot to do it this time.  I did go back and change the first few pictures to a png format instead of a jpeg which seems to do the trick.  It takes a long time to edit, enhance, crop and resize these pictures that I shouldn't have to change them to a png format too.  There should be a way to rotate your pictures like how they do with facebook.)
The picture above is a drawing of one of my Little Man's friends that is in his class.  She won 3rd place!

The picture of the penguin and the bird picture below is the artwork of two of my sister's students in her class at another school in the county
My absolute favorite from the entire night won a 3rd place ribbon.  I LOVE peacocks!  This kid did a fantastic job and if I was the judge they would have won a 1st place ribbon for their artwork!

Surprisingly the wolf above didn't win a ribbon at the county level.  I believe they judge them by grade and the two pictures above are in the upper grades in elementary school.

The picture above, which is sideways, is the artwork of the grandchild of my husband's boss at his work.

I love the Cat in the Hat picture!

The above is from a class that took empty vegetable cans and made their artwork that way.
I loved this class project where each kid drew a different flower and they put it together as a group for a quilt look.

This class had the same concept except they used pictures of birds and yarn to hold their pictures together.

I thought the kitty cat picture was cute and imaginative!

After we viewed all of the art at the museum we went out to eat.  We let our Little Man Artist pick where we ate at.  We had pizza!  It was a fun evening!  I will have to say I got teary eyed as I was driving there because it was one year ago that I was scheduled to have surgery for the breast cancer they had found.  We had postponed my surgery one week so I could see another doctor and run some more test.  I really feel like the Lord had his hand in that because had I had surgery at that time I would have missed my Little Man's artwork at the museum last year.  I really have all kinds of thoughts and emotions over this as last year I was thinking that that might be my last time getting to do something like that.  Enough of that, this post is about my Little Man!  He takes after my side of the family with his artistic abilities.  My mom loves to paint and I love to craft.  Granny loved doing different crafts too.  My sister's son is a really good artist too!

Artist In Family!

I originally made this post last year on March 7th of 2012.  I took it down and put it in draft form because I didn't want people to recognize my children at that time.  I go through phases with that.  Anyway, I was doing a new post about him winning again and wanted to put the link from this post with my new post.  For some reason it decided to post it with today's date on it instead of putting it where it should have been back in 2012.  I kept trying to fix it and ended up deleting this post without realizing it!  Imagine that!  There is no way to recover a draft that you accidentally delete!  I was a little smarter than blogger!  I went back to my history and found this post but in preview form so it wouldn't let me post it.  I ended up having to use my snipit tool and take pictures of the post to be able to post it again.

These go with last year's post that I lost. For some reason I found half of the post in my drafts so I'm going to post it!

First Day of School!

Today is the first day of school for my kids. My Young Lady is now a Freshman in High School. I don't know where the time has went. Seems like just yesterday she started Middle School. I survived Middle School and hopefully I will survive High School too. My Little Man is growing up fast too. He is now in the 2nd grade.

Last Week of School Pool Party

This is basically the last week of school. My Little Man's teacher had a pool party and cookout at her house for all the kids in the first grade. My Little Man had a great time and so did the other kids. I'll share a picture of him at his best. He is just like his daddy. Always trying to figure out how things work. I didn't see any of the other kids doing this. It was all him! lol

The Kids are Back in School!!!!!

Monday was the official first day of school for my kids. My Young Lady is now in the 7th grade and my Little Man started kindergarten. I was so happy to hear from them that they both enjoyed their first day of school. Especially my Little Man since he was a little scared to go because he didn't know anyone. Turned out there was one little boy that was in his preschool last year that was in his class. When he gets off the bus he is so excited telling me all about the different classes and things they did during the day.

For me, this is the first time in many years that I have been home alone! Not since my Young Lady was in kindergarten have I had the house to myself. So this is a big change for me too! So far I am loving it!
