I absolutely love this time of year. I really do think that Fall is my favorite time of the year because of all of the different colors on the trees. Right now God is giving us a glimpse of what Heaven might look like!
We had tried to drive through this area earlier this summer, but didn't make it that far down the road to see this. What a wonderful surprise to see this beautiful waterfall in the picture below! I have no idea what it is called or if it even has a name. I hope to go back in the Spring and explore this area some more. Maybe even get our feet wet and try our hand at some fishing.

Saturday was a great day to go for a ride in the Mustang with the top down so we headed out to see what we could find. I noticed a sign for a park called Drawdy Park which made me remember that I had seen pictures of a waterfall called Drawdy Falls. My husband turned around and we went in search for this waterfall that I had seen pictures of, but had never seen in person.
We walked all over this park and finally found it, but it wasn't on the side of the road that the park was located. If you want to get better pictures you need to park at the end of the parking lot that is close to the bridge that you drive over and walk across the road to take pictures of it from there. I didn't walk over there as I had just had a vein procedure done in my leg so I didn't want to over do it. The next time we are in the area I will make sure to park at the right area so I can get some better pictures of this beautiful waterfall.
This is some scenery from around the picnic area of the park. It is a very nice location and I would love to have it in my back yard! People aren't being very respectful of this park as there is trash scattered about which could be that someone hasn't picked up the trash from the cans. Who knows?
It was interesting to see and read the historical signs that are right beside of the park. Can you imagine how beautiful it would have been back in 1400? No wonder the Indians were camping in that area! It is a gorgeous area. I can imagine that the Indians actually played in the waterfall. It really is a gorgeous area.

Last Saturday we drove up to Canaan Valley to see the Fall colors. I have been wanting to do this for a few years now and this year was supposed to be full of color so we took a trip up to see them.
We went to the Blackwater Falls State Park. The leaves were not at peak yet, but you could see some splashes of color. It was beautiful. The above picture is the Resort at Blackwater Falls State Park.
I love this picture! It was so beautiful to see in person. It reminded me of a wedding with the rose petals on the floor.

We were surprised to see just how low the water was at the Blackwater Falls. I don't think I have ever seen the water this low. I really hope that they trim some of these trees so we can see the falls better from this handicap access area. Simply because it is really the only way anyone who is in a wheel chair can see the waterfall. It is a long hike to someone with health issues to walk down all of those steps to see it from the platform you can see in the picture above.

The Glad Creek Grist Mill at Babcock State Park in West Virginia. In my previous post I shared that we had went there the weekend of Labor Day this year for the first time. It was so beautiful. I can't wait to go back in the fall. There are a lot of places I want to go to this fall as I think the fall foliage should be breathtakingly beautiful this year because we didn't get into a drought like years past.
The creek is just covered in these huge massive rocks. Unlike any other creek that I have seen. Wouldn't it be nice to have one of these huge flat rocks in your yard to use as a patio! Without the water of course!

Saturday my husband surprised me by taking My Little Man and myself on a road trip sightseeing the beauty of Almost Heaven West Virginia. We went to Babcock State Park for the first time. Babcock State Park offers its guests 4,127 acres of serene, yet rugged
beauty, a fast flowing trout stream in a boulder-strewn canyon and
mountainous vistas to be viewed from several scenic overlooks. I kept seeing pictures of this beauty and had asked my husband if he knew where it was. Little did we realize it isn't that far from where we travel up through Hawk's Nest. We will be going back again and hopefully real soon! I loved it there! So did my husband and son. My Young Lady didn't make it to this trip as she was at a family reunion that she went to of her boyfriend's family. Sigh... She is growing up way too fast!
My Little Man is growing up way to fast also! He started the 4th grade this year. My Young Lady is a Junior in High School.
There wasn't enough water in the stream for The Glade Creek Grist Mill to have water flowing for it to grind up the corn to make corn meal. The man at the grist mill said that last week there was enough water so he ground up some corn meal last weekend.
My Little Man loves to climb rocks and this was a perfect get away for him. I'm not sure, but I think the rock he is standing on would normally be covered with water.
It is just wild to see all of these big rocks in the creek bed. I guess that is why we say Wild and Wonderful West Virginia!
Even though there wasn't any water flowing it was neat to see what it looks like without the water. I have more pictures I'll share at a later date so be on the lookout for them.

I found this picture of Albert Falls located in Thomas, West Virginia just sitting in my drafts! I can't believe I forgot to post this beauty. Well, it's never to late to post a picture of a beautiful waterfall so here it is! This was taken in the summer of 2012.
Now that things are getting back to normal after the big power outage I am going to go back to sharing a few pictures from our vacation to Canaan Valley from back in June.

The falls are always gorgeous no matter when we go there. I'm so glad that this particular waterfall is located right off of a main road so that everyone can see it. I think that is why it is one of my favorite waterfalls to see. Well, that and I'm just now thinking that is probably the very first waterfall I ever seen as a child. I also love it because you can walk right up to it because it has an easy access to it. It's a must see if you are ever in the area.

It looks like they did something on the left side of the falls but not as much on the right side.
Do you think someone actually laid in this stone? I have had a thought that perhaps someone cut the stone and used the other pieces to build Hawk's Nest. Just a thought! I have no idea whatsoever how it happened but it is very neat to look at.
