Rocks from the Moon

This past Summer we went to the Cultural Center in Charleston, West Virginia to see the quilts on display. Also on display that day was the actual rocks from the Moon when Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969. Also on display was to be the flag for the State of West Virginia that they actually took to the Moon. I was so excited that my kids were going to get to see real rocks from the Moon. We looked around at the quilts and then headed down stairs to see the newly remodeled museum. We looked at all of the displays. I looked and looked for the rocks from the Moon but I did not find them. When we went back upstairs I asked the man working at the information desk where they had the Moon rocks on display as I couldn't find them. He pointed to a display not far from where he was sitting. We walked over to the display. We looked in the display and couldn't believe what we were seeing. When I think of rocks I think of big rocks. I suppose it might have something to do with living in West Virginia and in the country that I have this idea in my head that all rocks are big. I looked at the man at the information desk and said, "Where are they"? He said right there in the display in that little marble.

Do you see them? You'll probably have to enlarge the picture to get a better look at them! There are four rocks from the Moon in the display along with the flag of the State of West Virginia that they took to the Moon.

To get a better idea of how big the rocks from the Moon were you have to take a look at this picture! Believe me, we laughed so hard at the size of the rocks from the Moon that I'm glad that we had went to the little girls room before we seen them! The Moon rocks were the size of a peppercorn! Seriously!

Look at how gorgeous this quilt is!

I'm thinking this one was my favorite!
