This was about all I could find about the water fall at the Blackwater Falls State Park website: The waters of Shay Run reach the Blackwater Canyon's edge and cascade down the canyon's wall as Elakala Falls. A short walk along the Elakala Trail from the Lodge will take hikers over the upper section of Elakala Falls.
To find this beauty you have to go to the main lodge at the park. Park in the parking lot to the left of the building. Start walking to the left corner of the building and you will see a path. Walk down that path and it will take you to this waterfall. The path isn't really handicap accessible because you are walking on and through lots of roots from trees but it is an easy walk for others. The waterfall isn't that far down the path. Nothing like the hike to see the Blackwater Falls! If anyone has been there then you'll know what I'm talking about!
This is a very large rock that is at the bottom of the waterfall. Pretty neat looking.

This is what it looks like on the other side of the waterfall. There is a bridge that you can walk directly over the waterfall to get to the other side.

There's just something magical about them.
I will say that since this waterfall is not very well publicized there aren't many people that go there so you pretty much feel as though you have it all to yourself. My pictures didn't do this area justice as it is just so beautiful. I felt like I was in a fairy land because of the big trees and just the feeling of it being all magical and all. I'm glad we didn't miss it this year! And now you won't miss it either because I told you about it!
