The Gas Rig

It's still here! I think the gas people have set up camp on our property and they aren't ever going to leave! I don't blame them though. We do have a very beautiful piece of property in the middle of no where. The thing is when I asked how long it would take for them to fix our gas well I got a reply of 3 days and it's been going on 2 months one gets suspicious! Maybe if they would come 3 days in a row they might get it done! lol They come on average of once a week at times and only work a few hours. Anyway enough of that. I took a few pictures of the very old gas rig. This thing is a classic and neat to look at.

I honestly can't imagine riding inside this thing!

Or even driving it. Take a look at the size of that steering wheel.

Anyone know how to drive standard shift in a rig like this?

When I opened the door to take some pictures inside I could smell just how old this gas rig is. I did not get inside though. I'm not sure if you could pay me enough to do that! lol

Our Gas Well

The past month the gas company that operates our gas well has been at our farm trying to get our gas well working again.

This is what it looks like with everything all set up.

This is the tank that the rig is pumping the water into that is coming from our gas well that is water logged.

This is a new thing they have done back there. They are so lucky I didn't go back there and see this when they were here! Words would have been said! My husband says this is what they do but I don't like it one bit! You can't tell from the picture but that is a very big hole.

The rig and the gas well.

The gas well.

This is a close up of the gas well. I hope they get it working soon. I do LOVE my FREE GAS! The thing is they don't come every day. Then when they do come they don't stay a full 8 hours. I told my husband I think they have set up camp back there and they aren't ever going to leave! Even the Vice President of the company keeps coming out when the well tenders are here. Wonder what's up with that?

The Generator

This is Two and Jazz here taking over moms blog while she is recovering from her surgery. The other day she took a few pictures of the generator to show you guys and she hadn't done it yet so we thought we would show it to you.

The generator is located in the back of the house. When dad built the house he wired it ahead of time in preparation of getting a generator for the house. Dad bought this one for mom for one of their anniversaries. Mom says it is one of the best presents he has ever bought her because it is the gift that keeps on giving. Also she doesn't like to be in the dark and not being able to flush when the electric goes off!
The generator is hooked up to our free gas so it doesn't cost us a thing to run it.

Jazz had to get in the picture. She thinks she is a Barker Beauty! lol I think she's a pain in the bleep! lol

The generator has a battery in it and a timer. Once a week it is set up to run for about 10 minutes to keep the battery charged. When the electric goes off the generator will automatically turn itself on within a minute or less of time. It sounds like a lawn mower when it's running. The way dad wired it up we can still use all of the rooms in the house except the dining room, half bath and a few rooms upstairs. Mom can't run the washer or dryer but that's alright. She can take a shower and we don't have to worry about the things in the refrigerator going bad either because it keeps the refrigerator running too!

Mom is doing much better today. She actually sat on the front porch in her rocking chair with me by her side protecting her from all intruders. I know she isn't feeling good so I didn't try to knock her down when she was going back inside the house today like I usually do.

The Gas Rig is Here!

Yesterday was so exciting at my house. I noticed that the gas company had brought in a rig to fix our gas well. I've mentioned before that we have free gas on our farm but I haven't went into detail about it before.

Back in 1917 when our property was sold to a new owner the previous owner kept the mineral rights but conveyed free gas to the property owner for as long as there is a working well on the property. From what we could tell the old farm house we bought and lived in for a year and a half actually had the free gas throughout the house. There was a little gas heater in each and every room even though there were 4 fireplaces in there also. That leads us to believe they didn't have the free gas when they first built the house back in the late 1800's. We did find evidence that the old farm house also had gas lights at one time.

* This is blogger messing with YOU! or is it messing with ME?

For some reason our gas well has quit producing gas. Don't fret! We are still getting our gas for free. They've been back feeding us from another well that is tied into our gas well. The gas company says that our gas well is what they call water logged. So they finally brought in this big gas rig to clean it out and to fix the problem so they can continue getting gas from our property and we can continue getting our free gas!

This is the rig driving on what we refer to as the gas well road that is on our property. That is their right of way to get back to the gas well that is located way back behind the house.

I find the rig very interesting looking. It looks like it's a hundred years old don't you think!

And AGAIN blogger is trying to mess with US! They also brought in a small dozer to clean it up a little where the gas well is located. They didn't work very long yesterday and they didn't work at all today. It is so muddy back there that I didn't go back to take pictures of the gas well. I'll have to find my mud boots before I make it back there again. I'll post more pictures as soon as I can get them.
