It is now the season for Fall Festivals! Friday I picked up the kids after school and took them to the West Virginia Pumpkin Festival in Milton, West Virginia.
We were amazed at the size of the pumpkins that were entered in the contest for the largest pumpkin grown in West Virginia. The one below weighed 969 pounds!
The pumpkins were all shapes and sizes and even different colors.
Now, I'm wondering what size seeds these pumpkins will have inside them! They would have to be bigger than your average size pumpkin seed.
The Future Farmers of America always have their sorghum molasses demonstration at the Pumpkin Festival. You could also buy a jar or two.
I just love, love, loved these hand painted ghords! I bought seeds to plant some of these beauties this year, but it was too wet to plant them and they never got planted.....
I also love, love, love these metal flowers. I think this would be the best way to have flowers in your yard all year round without having to water them.
The candy apples and fudge were so tempting, but I didn't cave in to that temptation. The day before, I just bought everything I needed to make candy apples at home with the kids. No need to buy when you can make them at home! I even bought the candy thermometer I need to make the candied red ones.
There was a clown there that was making the coolest balloon shapes for the kids. He was raking in the money girls! My Little Man wanted a balloon shaped motorcycle. We stood in line long enough to watch him make a Mario, alien, flower, sword and some other thing that I can't remember. Just look at the lines that were forming! Like I said, that clown was ranking in the money!
A new shop located in Barboursville, West Virginia had a display at the Pumpkin Festival. We loved this old vanity. I've been looking for one for my Young Lady and can't seem to find one that is in good enough shape to use. This one was just a little too colorful for us and priced way out of my price range for something like that. We did like it though. It has a Alice in Wonderland feel about it.
These wooden carved pumpkin balls were neat.
There were lots of demonstrations going on all throughout the festival. One couple had a Lye Soap Making demonstration. You could also buy some of the soap they were making.
One section of the festival was set up for the Indians. I'd love to make a tee pee for our yard. I think the kids would have fun playing in it. I could see our dogs taking naps in there too!
Grilled corn on the cob! Need I say more! I really wanted to try some, but I really wasn't hungry. I remember having some corn like this when I was a kid at a festival we went to. It was out of this world delicious! I should have tried it anyway. Regrets! Next year I'm having grilled corn on the cob!
Wild horses wasn't going to keep me from getting some kettle popcorn! I just love this stuff! I bought some last year from this same vendor. It is the BEST!!!!
You haven't had popcorn until you have tried this!
Operation Lifesaver was giving the kids Engineer Hats and had some neat railroad cars on display for the kids to get a closer look at.

We had a great time and plan on going again next year!

Last week when I was out I stopped by and took a few pictures of the covered bridge in Milton, West Virginia. The bridge was relocated a few years ago to a new location. Before that it was actually being used and was at the original location where it was built. 
I kind of wish they left it where it was myself. The new location lets the sun beat on it too much and it has made the paint fade. It also is sagging in the middle.
Here he is looking at himself. He's a pretty bird! 
He would look at himself and peck at the mirror and then fly up and stand on the mirror. 
I tried to distract him but he was just too crazy over looking at himself and pecking at the mirror.

I really liked the bag ladies! They are cute and useful. They hold all those plastic bags that you bring home from the store. I usually bring my own bags so I don't end up with all those plastic bags at the house. A plus to that is that the bags that I use hold more and are easier to carry into the house.
In the middle of the park they always have a fall display that changes from year to year. This year the display featured a small replica of the Milton Covered Bridge. 
It was so cute!
One of the Civil War re-enactment camps had this coyote skin on display. I think my dog Two looks like a coyote!

There was a sweet looking stage coach that the kids could get in to take pictures. 
The train car is always a big hit too with the kids.

They even had the ones with bumpy looking things on them. I think they are neat looking but none of those seemed to make it home with us.
