I Won a Giveaway!

Granny Sue of Granny Sue's News and Reviews had a beat the blues giveaway and I won! Take a look at what all I won!

There were lots of goodies in Granny Sue's giveaway. I kept taking things out of the box and just couldn't believe all that was in there. Two pretty handmade doilies, two hand-crocheted hotpads, a pepper grinder with a blue farm scene, cobalt votive in a silver holder, a Japan-made lusterware creamer in pearly blue with a soft orange interior, a blue willow patten trinket box, two handmade navy blue napkins, and a vintage Totes "rainproof" scarf.

There also was a blue gingham handmade apron. Isn't it just darling!

I have been following Granny Sue's blog for almost 2 years. I absolutely love Granny Sue's blog! Granny Sue lives on a farm with her husband Larry in Almost Heaven West Virginia. She is a Storyteller who travels all around the United States telling her stories and singing ballads. When she's home you might find her doing some gardening, canning and living the life of a true pioneering homesteader. She also loves to travel throughout West Virginia and shares her adventures with you on her blog. You'll learn how to live off the land as she shows you some of the edible wild plants that she finds growing here in West Virginia. Granny Sue is a retired Librarian who has a love of books and folklore and she also shares those with you too. She has an amazing family that just draws you in and makes you want to be a part of them. She shares her recipes and so much more that I'm sure everyone will want to visit her blog Granny Sue's News and Reviews.

Thanks Granny Sue for hosting such a wonderful giveaway! I love all of the sweet treasures you sent!

Giveaway to Enter!

I'm so excited Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.'s first cd will be released on November 21st that I am going to have a giveaway! I also missed my 2 year blogging anniversary so this giveaway is for that too! I'm going to give to one lucky winner one of his first cd's. I just looked to see if there was any information about what songs will be on the cd and this is what I found: The new album will include hits such as "My Way," "Witchcraft," "Night and Day," "Fly Me To The Moon," "I Get A Kick Out Of You," "Something Stupid (featuring Judith Hill)," "Ain't That A Kick In The Head?," "That's Life," "I've Got You Under My Skin," "I've Got The World On A String," and "Baby It's Cold Outside (featuring Judith Hill)." Some will remember me posting about Landau and asking people to vote for him a few months ago. Landau lives in Logan, West Virginia and won America's Got Talent this year. I am a big fan and can't wait to get his first cd next week!

To enter all you need to do is make a comment that you'd like to win! I will pick the winner from a hat on Sunday, November 20th and purchase the cd on Monday. If nothing goes wrong I'll get the cd in the mail to the winner on Monday after I buy it! I hope there isn't a big rush on them at the stores. I can't wait to hear it! Good Luck!

Look What I Won!!!!

I just have to share with you a few pictures I took of a recent giveaway that I won at Together We Save! It was a sponsored giveaway of General Mills and Hot Wheels. My husband brought home this big box Monday.

I couldn't believe the size of the box! I like that it has a picture of a Hot Wheels car on the side.

Inside they even put some blue tissue paper in there because after all it was a gift! Here's a peek inside of what it looked like after I took the tissue paper out.

Look at all of that stuff! The kids thought it was Christmas morning! So did I! It was so exciting taking all of the different things out of the box to see what all I won.
Now that's a lot of cereal from General Mills and Hot Wheel cars! Don't forget the t-shirts and the hats!

There was 3 Hot Wheels t-shirts. There was even a pink one for my Young Lady!

My Little Man loved the Stunt'n Dunk! He has had so much fun playing with it the past few days.

They sent 5 boxes of cereal from General Mills. Cookie Crisp, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Reese's Puffs, Lucky Charms and Cheerios! The kids are so happy with all of the different cereals.

Just as soon as my Young Lady seen the pink Hot Wheels t-shirt she had to put it on! I had to take a picture too!

I want to thank Together We Save for hosting this marvelous giveaway from General Mills and Hot Wheels!

Cell Phone Service in the Country

Living in the country has it's advantages and it's disadvantages. One of the disadvantages is that you don't often have cell phone service living on a rural country road such as the road that we live on. That's not a bad thing actually, but I always wonder what I would do if I should break down on the side of the road. The homes on the road that we live on are far in between which would make for a long walk just to ask to use the phone to call for help. Now I don't have to worry about that as much because right before Christmas I won a giveaway at Diann's blog called The Thrifty Groove. I won a Cell Ranger Stix Signal Booster from the RepeaterStore! I received it by mail Wednesday. I waited until I got home to open the box to see how it works. I decided to give it a try on my way to the bus stop to pick up my son. Can you believe my cell phone wasn't charged and it shut off! I couldn't even see if it worked. So, when I got back home I charged it for a good half hour and then I packed the kids in my truck and off we went in search of some bars on my cell phone which would indicate that I could make a call with my cell phone. Note ~ I took all of these pictures the next day as it was dark by then when I first gave my new cell phone booster a try.

Here we have my el cheapo cell phone showing that I have no bars at all at my house. I call it el cheapo because since I don't have cell phone service at the house I don't really need a fancy cell phone with a monthly bill. I just need a cell phone to make the occasional phone call while I'm out and away from home for emergencies. Plus I really don't think we'll ever have service at the house because we are surrounded by hills with our house being on the flat land at the bottom.

Using the Cell Phone Ranger Stix Signal Booster is very easy. The instructions were to put the Antenna on top and plug the charger into the accessory port aka cigarette lighter. My truck has a sun roof so I took the easy way out and just opened up the top and put the Antenna that is magnetic on top and I shut the sun roof leaving a small opening for the cable.
Imagine my excitement which I noticed that I had a signal with my cell phone! I wasn't that far from the house either! I was able to make a phone call to my house just to give it a try. That is a miracle! I never have been able to make a call from that close to the house. Actually my cell phone doesn't have a signal until you have drove a good half hour from our house. Seriously, that's just how it is around here.

Most people take their cell phones for granted. If you live in the city you have no idea what I'm talking about at all. Most people in the city have actually gotten rid of their land line phones and are using their cell phones exclusively. Many of our friends have done just that. We on the other hand have to rely on our land lines to make and receive our phone calls from our house. I doubt that that will ever change, but now if for some reason I need to make a phone call from my cell phone due to my land line being out of order all I have to do it jump in my truck, drive less than a mile and make a phone call! I will no longer have to drive a half hour to find a phone to make a call to let everyone know that our phone is out of order. And as a side note ~ Have you seen a pay phone anywhere lately? Pay phones are extinct!

Thanks Diann for hosting this wonderful giveaway! I'm thrilled that I can now use my cell phone now that I have the Cell Ranger Stix Signal Booster!

I was Brave Today!

I was extremely brave today! I left the house to go to town to the store before the next Winter Storm hits us tonight and tomorrow. This is what the road looked like near my house that I had to drive on. If you look to the right you will see that there is a major drop off into a creek. If you were to slide off the road that is where you would end up at! No slipping and sliding for me! My trip was well worth it though!

Last week I won a giveaway from Corgi's in my Garden. It was Sharon's 100th post and I won her giveaway. Congratulations again Sharon on your 100th post! While I was out I also went to the post office. Normally we just get the mail on Sunday's before church, but I knew there might be something special in my mailbox waiting for me so I had to check it. I couldn't wait until Sunday! And I was right! There was a package in the mail from Sharon! Squeal! I can't wait to show it to you! I was so excited when I seen the package and you will be too!

Are you just oooing and awing now? Of course you are! I was when I seen it! I'm sure whoever it was that put it in my mailbox was also! Isn't that just the sweetest! I LOVE it!
I knew you would want a closer up view of that sweet corgi so I just had to show it to you! Sharon, where did you get these adorable corgi stamps? Everyone wants to know!
And not only was there such cuteness on the front. Take a look at the back of the envelope! Aw! Sealed with corgi kisses! That just melts my heart! I LOVE it!
And this last stamp has to be a picture of one of Sharon's own calendar girls. I LOVE it! And now for what I won! hehehe All of this excitement over the packaging and I still haven't shown you what I won!
A personalized kitchen towel that Sharon made especially for me! Sweet! I LOVE it! It is just too cute!

I've already warned the kids that this towel is special and they are NOT to use it! They are NOT to use it to clean up spills! They are NOT to use it! Did I already say that? Well, they are NOT to use it!

Thank you so much Sharon for sending such corgi sweetness in my mailbox! Aren't you glad I braved that icy snow covered road to go to the store! I know I am!

Jules from Photographs by Julie

Congratulations Jules! I'll be in contact with you to let you know how to claim your prize!

The weather has been just perfect here lately so we decided to take the boat out again this weekend. The leaves had changed colors so much in 2 weeks from the last time we were there.

The love how the trees are reflecting off the water. I think this picture is gorgeous, but it really doesn't show just how breathtakingly beautiful it actually was right there.
We went to East Lynn Dam again this weekend.
Dragonflies were flying all around us when we were in the boat. I took a picture of this guy when he decided to hitch a ride with us for a spell. Just look at those wings. They look like netting.
A blue dragonfly. This picture isn't as clear but you can see that he was blue.
In the picture above you can see just how low the water is in the lake. It hasn't rained much at all this Summer and the water levels in the lake are down by at least 4 feet of water. We had to be careful in certain areas of the lake to make sure we didn't hit any of the trees that are under water with our boat.
We also seen a blue heron in flight! Wildlife is so abundant in this area. You just need to be aware of your surroundings and you will see it.

We also got to see a duck in flight!

The majestic hills surrounding the lake with their Autumn colors is Almost Heaven on Earth West Virginia!

Blog Anniversary

I can't believe it has already been one year since I started blogging! Still yet, I can't believe that I have already made over 200 posts! That is a lot of posts in one year! To celebrate both my one year blogversary and my 200th post, I'm having a giveaway! I'm going to run this giveaway a little different than most bloggers do.

~I'm not going to require that anyone follow my blog to get an entry.

~I'm not going to require anyone to make a comment to get an entry.

~I'm also not going to require that you blog or do a post about my giveaway to get an entry!

I know, that sounds crazy don't it! I want the winners of my blog to be the people who actually read and comment on my blog from time to time. So I decided that I am going to give entries to those who have made a comment on my blog starting on October 25, 2009. I'm also going to give an entry to whoever it was that made the first comment on my blog a year ago! How cool is that! I'll post a picture or two of what all of you commenters are in the running for as soon as I get some time to take them. I was busy yesterday getting my shoe boxes ready for Operation Christmas Child and I ran out of time to do it.
