The generator is located in the back of the house. When dad built the house he wired it ahead of time in preparation of getting a generator for the house. Dad bought this one for mom for one of their anniversaries. Mom says it is one of the best presents he has ever bought her because it is the gift that keeps on giving. Also she doesn't like to be in the dark and not being able to flush when the electric goes off!
The generator is hooked up to our free gas so it doesn't cost us a thing to run it.
Jazz had to get in the picture. She thinks she is a Barker Beauty! lol I think she's a pain in the bleep! lol
The generator has a battery in it and a timer. Once a week it is set up to run for about 10 minutes to keep the battery charged. When the electric goes off the generator will automatically turn itself on within a minute or less of time. It sounds like a lawn mower when it's running. The way dad wired it up we can still use all of the rooms in the house except the dining room, half bath and a few rooms upstairs. Mom can't run the washer or dryer but that's alright. She can take a shower and we don't have to worry about the things in the refrigerator going bad either because it keeps the refrigerator running too!
Mom is doing much better today. She actually sat on the front porch in her rocking chair with me by her side protecting her from all intruders. I know she isn't feeling good so I didn't try to knock her down when she was going back inside the house today like I usually do.

two, you are so good to be careful of mommy and her stitches. and you are a great reported. this is really interesting, did not know there was one like this. we have lots of them here in FL but they are all gasoline powered and mobile, for when hurricanes dare to come. thanks for the info

What a great gift a generator can be!
So glad you recieved good news after your mastectomy. Difficult surgery for sure. My aunt went down that road when my son was born, but sadly her's had spread. She has been fighting it ever since.

What good pups to keep things going for your Mom while she's getting better. I've never thought of a generator as a gift item, but we used ours in the motorhome when we traveled. Many nights we slept in Cracker Barrel parking lots or Walmart. We always asked first, and bought a meal or groceries.
Tell your Mom we're sending cyber hugs and good wishes. Take good care of her you two furkids you....
You have done a great job taking over your mom's blog while she recovers. We have lots of those house generators here in Florida because we get hurricanes and other fierce storms that cause us to lose power. We don't have one, but they are sure a comfort. Yes, a generator is a WONDERFUL thing! We thought we were going to have to use ours this evening, but they finally got the electricity going after it being out for about half the day.

I have a little Urban Farm in Nitro, West Virginia. We don't have free gas but we have talked about installing one og these with the cost of electric rising. What do you think. By the way first time here and can't wait to read the rest!

I am so envious! Those generators are great, but why do you need it? Do you lose your electricity a lot? We have a generator, but it's got to be hooked up if we ever need it and it runs on regular gas. We have it for hurricanes. It would be so nice to have an automatic one that runs on natural gas...and free natural gas!
Glad to hear you're doing well and taking it easy as everything heals.
A generator would be great for those times when the power is out. Here in town we don't have too many issues with power however a few years ago we lost power for several days and it was miserable.
