Hummingbird ~ Tuesdays' Show & Tail

Welcome to the Fortieth Weekly Segment of Tuesdays' Show & Tail! I hope everyone will join me every Tuesday to post a picture of two of your pets, wildlife or visit to the zoo and tell a little about them! Tuesdays' Show & Tail is about having fun, and giving us a chance to meet other pet owners in the blogging community. If you are visiting and would like to join in on the fun, please do so! Everyone is welcome. It is very easy to do. Take a look at my guidelines here.

Ladies, have I got something different to show you this week! It is so exciting to find a new little creature of God to share with you this week! Last week while at church I noticed what I thought to be a hummingbird getting some sweet nectar from this purple butterfly bush. I took a closer look and noticed that it was much smaller than a hummingbird. I then thought could it be a baby hummingbird so I tried to get a better look at it.

It was then that I realized that it wasn't a hummingbird at all. I got my camera out and tried to take a few pictures of this amazing looking creature so I could come home and try to figure out what it actually was. What I found out was that it is a
Hummingbird Clearwing Moth. Click on the link to see a clearer picture and additional information about this amazing creature as the one I was photographing was just moving way too fast for me and I really want you to see what they look like.

Awww!!! You got pictures!!! I've been trying and trying and trying to find one of these to get a picture of.

I've seen them a few times in SE Ohio, never down here in TN though. I knew they were a moth of some sort but I don't know that I ever knew what kind they were.

Then again I was the weird kid that read insect books on the school bus all the time. :-D

Such neat pictures and these things are fast! I'm impressed! You're quite the photographer to catch this little booger!

Happy Monday!!

I have seen these before and thought at first they were hummingbirds too. I've never gotten a picture of one though. They're neat to see up close! Thanks for sharing the picture.
